The boys watched in horror as huge bubbles glugged to the surface where the other boat had been.

"Head for shore!" Russ yelled. Then as the younger boys paddled as hard as they could with their hands, Russ dived into the water after Amy. He just had to save her!

9. Double Trouble

At that moment, the kids heard a sweet sound, or rather a sweet silence, as the patter and splash of the huge drops of falling water suddenly stopped. The boys in the canoe bumped onto a mud bank, and the twins tumbled out, exhausted. Nick climbed from the craft slowly and yelled for his sister.

"Amy? Amy! Amy!" he cried, afraid of the worst.

Then, he could see Russ's head bobbing in the muddy river. He waved desperately to him and cried out again. Soon he could see that Russ had found Amy and was bringing her to shore, but she wasn't swimming by herself. Russ was pulling her.
